We continue our efforts to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with our families and staffs. We know not every parent, teacher, or staff member can attend our Board meetings, so we will provide a brief update after each Board meeting, sharing highlights and actions taken by the Board. As always, please let us know how to better serve and communicate with you! We want to be partners with you in the educational journey of the children entrusted to us.
DISTRICT RECOGNITIONS:
Jackson School
Principal Michele Williamson gave a brief overview of progress at Jackson Elementary School.Mrs. Williamson reported that Jackson is doing wonderfully; they are up 2% in math and 6% in ELAon the Smarter Balanced Assessments. The Special Education subgroup is up 17% in ELA and 1%in math and although the EL subgroup is too small to be reported, all of them have either met or exceeded standards with the exception of one who has made great gains. This year they believe all EL students will met or exceed standards. The suspension rate went from 1.6% down to 0.4% and attendance from 96% to 97%.
The PBIS program is thriving; they have just started a new scaled rubric that the yard supervisors are using twice a week for hot spots. They also have just finished a huge Hour of Code push and just a couple of months ago started a new club, Sign Language, which has been extremely popular.
Mrs. Williamson turned the presentation over to Amy Hadden who facilitated students to sign several Christmas carols and then a grand finale, Queen’s “We are the Champions”.
Difference Makers:
Jackson’s Difference Maker awards went to Coco Ladd, School Secretary and Jennifer Webb,Teacher. Both individuals are true difference makers for Jackson. They love their school and their jobs! We are grateful to them and for them.
