Rescue Union School District

Educating for the Future, Together

We continue our efforts to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with our families and staff. We know that not every parent or staff member can attend our Board meetings, so we will provide you a brief update after each Board meeting, sharing highlights and actions taken by the Board. As always, please let us know how to better serve you and communicate with you! We want to be partners with you in the educational journey of our children entrusted to us.

DISTRICT RECOGNITIONS:
  • Lakeview Elementary School provided a presentation highlighting the school leadership program “Impact”, with advisors and students presenting all that the club provides the school and students.
  • Difference Makers: This month, as Lakeview was the site presenting, they also got to select two individuals to be honored as the first Difference Makers award recipients. Teachers Jenni Bazor and Lisa Thoms were selected by staff. This award has been instituted by the Board to recognize members of each school, the District, and community for making a difference each and every day for the benefit of our students and families.
  • The Board approved Resolution #17-24 Week of the School Administrators recognizing that all school leaders be commended for the contributions s they make to successful student achievement.
UPDATES:
  • The Board received information regarding the facilities projects underway in the District. Fields at Marina Village Middle School and Lake Forest Elementary School are nearing completion. Please note the sod used will be dormant in winter so even if the fields seem brown it is expected. The two story classroom project at Marina Village is progressing nicely, and the slab for the foundation is underway.
  • The Board received information regarding our Electric Bus through the Rural School Bus Pilot Project Grant agreement. There is also an opportunity for the District to be eligible for 2 additional electric busses. This is cutting edge and we will be among the very few in the entire country to have these electric busses!
  • The Board received information regarding the COOL School, our online full-time independent study option for students in grades 3-8 and a review of our CAASPP scores. Rescue Union was one of the 5 top districts recognized in the greater Sacramento area for our Math and English Language Arts scores. We are proud of our teachers and students. We continue seeking ways to improve our instructional practices to make sure ALL of our students continue to grow and develop!
