Board of Trustees Meeting Highlights - November 14, 2017
We continue our efforts to communicate effectively and in a timely fashion with our families and staffs. We know not every parent, teacher, or staff member can attend our Board meetings, so we will provide a brief update after each Board meeting, sharing highlights and actions taken by the Board. As always, please let us know how to better serve and communicate with you! We want to be partners with you in the educational journey of the children entrusted to us.
DISTRICT RECOGNITIONS:
Pleasant Grove Middle School provided a presentation highlighting the AVID Program offered as an elective for 8th grade (also piloted with 7 th grade) and a 6 th grade trimester elective. In addition to the electives, the program is implemented in all classrooms, with all teachers throughout the school having been trained in certain elements, such as the use of binder checks and the focus on college readiness. Additionally, AVID’s proven learning and support structure, known as WICOR incorporates teaching/learning methodologies in the critical areas of Writing to learn, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading to learn for ALL Pleasant Grove students. It is making an incredible impact on student learning and achievement! Data is being collected along the way and students will be encouraged to continue with AVID when they reach high school.
Difference Makers: As the presenting school for November, Pleasant Grove presented the Difference Maker award to teacher, Lori Maurer.
